Dear Families,
We took our spelling test this morning.
We read a Scholastic News about a family of ducks that live in a school.
We noticed it was a teaching story which is different than the realistic fiction stories we are writing in writing workshop.
We talked about our new math unit over addition and subtraction to 40.
We went to PE.
We ended the day in Hootenanny!

Please start returning Traveling Teddy to school next week in his bag. We will do some end of the year activities in class with him! Thank you so much for your involvement in this NPE tradition!

Dear Families,
Tomorrow is our spelling test on "ou" words. (Elvis)

We also practiced drawing conclusions from the stories we read today.
We reviewed for our math test tomorrow. (Nick)

We had a mini relay for life this afternoon. (Isabel)

Dear Families,
We started our morning in the Tech Lab!
We drew conclusions as we read the story Mole and the Baby Bird and put events in the correct order.
We went to Music!
We practiced comparing numbers to 40 and completing number patterns. 
We started our science unit on States of Matter with Mrs. Martorelli today.

Reminder:
Wear sneakers tomorrow for our mini Relay for Life in the afternoon.

This week our spelling words have the "ou" spelling feature! (Dallin)
We used our checklists in writing workshop to help us see if we are writing complete stories. (Magda)
We practiced finding the missing numbers in a group by counting on or counting back.

We read the folk tale Little Red Hen to see how she solved her problem with her friends!
We reviewed spelling strategies we can use when we write unfamiliar words in our stories!
We practiced using a number line to help us count on and count back from big numbers in math.
We went to Library.
We had our last comparing and measuring activity with Ms. Clay this afternoon!

Note:
As an early Spring Break "surprise", I made math homework tonight optional. Some of the kids wanted it for the challenge. If you see no math homework in your child's folder, they chose not to get it. Web books and spelling homework was still assigned.
Thanks so much for helping your child with this responsibility.
